CHAMPAIGN - In an effort to serve those who are potentially impacted by COVID-19 and are recovering at home, OSF Healthcare is launching telehealth locations in Champaign-Urbana and Danville, State Senator Scott Bennett (D-Champaign) announced Tuesday.

A new Remote Patient Monitoring Program will digitally connect Pandemic Health Workers (PHWs) with community members who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and need to stay home or quarantine to protect themselves and others.

“Older, higher-risk Illinoisans in rural communities lacking high-speed internet are facing geographical barriers to access health care services during this crisis,” Bennett said. “Implementing a remote patient monitoring program allows pandemic health workers to extend resources directly to the individual.”

According to OSF, PHWs will virtually visit recipients daily, deliver wellness kits that include essential tools to monitor their health, and follow-up over a 14-day period to ensure no further assistance is needed.

Eligibility for the program is determined by if a person is showing COVID-19 symptoms, or is at high risk for contracting the virus, but does not require emergency or impatient care, and can be digitally monitored at home.

For a final determination of eligibility for the Pandemic Health Worker program, please call the OSF hotline. The number is 833-673-5669 and is available now to assist with digital support.

This collaboration was made possible through a partnership with the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services and OSF HealthCare. More information can be found at www.osfhealthcare.org.
