flu shot clinics

CHAMPAIGN – To help reduce the spread of flu this winter, State Senator Scott Bennett (D-Champaign) is hosting drive-up flu shot clinics in Champaign, Danville and Rantoul.

“This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s extremely important to protect yourself from the flu,” Bennett said. “These clinics will give residents of the 52nd District the opportunity to safely and conveniently get their flu shot.”

Bennett is partnering with Walgreens to host three clinics in the area:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 27 in the back lot of the Illinois Terminal, 45 E. University Ave., Champaign
  • Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Danville Public Library, 319 N. Vermilion St., Danville
  • Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Hap Parker Family Aquatic Center, 320 W. Flessner Ave., Rantoul

Each clinic will be held from 3 - 6 p.m.

The flu vaccine clinics will be held outdoors in a drive-up format to allow appropriate social distancing. Masks will still be required, and safety precautions will be in place to promote a safe and healthy environment for everyone. Participants are required to bring their insurance card and photo ID to receive a flu shot.

“Increasing the number of people who are vaccinated can help reduce the number of flu illnesses, hospitalizations and deaths,” Bennett said. “By pulling together, we can lessen the strain on our hospitals and health care workers this flu season and save lives.”

In addition to getting a flu vaccine, Bennett reminds residents to continue to wear a mask, wash their hands often and watch their distance.
